I am Mads Hoxer Larsen, a researcher working at the intersection of political economy, institutions, and public policy. This site brings together my written work and the reading that informs it.

My interests span state capacity, democratic participation, and the quiet ways that rules and standards shape the world around us. I write literature reviews to make sense of the fields I read in, shorter articles to test ideas, and longer research projects to pursue them properly.

I believe good scholarship is legible scholarship. Wherever possible I try to write clearly, share what I am reading, and keep this page up to date as my work develops.
